Can you wear danskos in the rain
I'm in Boston, for reference. Can you all recommend a good, sturdy pair of shoes that have good tread other than Dansko?

If you heat them you will cause the moisture to leave too quickly and greatly increase the chance of the leather cracking.
Once the shoes appear dry and no more moisture is being drawn out of the shoe, clean and condition with a leather balm or cream and finally polish normally. Over the next week ensure you clean and polish after every wearing. April 28, admin. I thought the same thing for hiking in Iceland. I wear my Dansko clogs daily for work and in the winter for general walking purposes. My children convinced me to get a low cut hiking shoe and I was grateful to them as the clogs would not have been good on the steep trails.
They were not terribly expensive and almost look like a sneaker. If you are sightseeing in a town on a rainy day the clogs will be fine. I have to admit to a fear of falling! Perhaps you are more coordinated!! I really need to ramp up my walking at home, not just for the cruise so I guess I'll go to Academy and check out the hiking shoes.
With 29 days to go, I better get some and make sure they are comfy. Unless you are planning to do significant hiking , most of Alaska can be done just fine in a good pair of running shoes and or easy wearing shoes,. I have been there 4 times and never once packed hiking boots, but then again, I did not hiking but have seen most of the sights and done some excursions. A good pair of waterproof lower cut hiking shoes is always in my wardrobe. I take them on cruises where I will be more active i.
I love Vasque brand, and you can find them at Zappos among other places. I think they'll be fine and they were really reasonable on Amazon. They are called sloggers. They come in a couple of dozen colors and patterns. I have a thing for pawprints. I think i"ll head to Academy to start with - I never order shoes that I haven't tried on because I have a weird ankle thing.
At this point - I'd be happy in my leather Keds. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community.
